# Export Label

> Export Label is software that converts Chestny Znak Data Matrix code files into print-ready unit, carton and pallet labels for exporters to Russia.

Export Label is used by European companies that export goods to Russia. Russia's Chestny Znak (Честный знак) system requires every product to carry a unique Data Matrix code before it crosses the border. The Russian importer orders the codes in the Chestny Znak system and sends the code files to the European exporter; Export Label converts those files into print-ready, correctly ordered and numbered unit, carton and pallet labels. Each client gets a dedicated server and their own access site. The first 50,000 labels are free; pricing is 0.005 EUR per generated label, lower for high volumes.

## Facts

- The Chestny Znak Data Matrix code must be applied before the goods enter Russia, before customs clearance. Imported goods must arrive already marked.
- In practice the Russian importer orders the codes and sends the code files to the European producer/exporter, who prints and applies the labels at the factory or logistics warehouse before shipment.
- Confectionery marking became mandatory in stages during 2026: from 1 March 2026 — biscuits, wafers, marmalade, zephyr and similar; from 1 May 2026 — sweet baked goods (croissants, rolls, cakes); from 1 July 2026 — chocolate, caramel, dragees and chewing gum.
- Soft drinks and several other FMCG categories became mandatory earlier and are already fully in force.
- Each label is unique — codes cannot be reused or duplicated. Carton and pallet labels aggregate the unit codes and must be correctly ordered and numbered.
